My Story
Hi, I’m Georgie! I'm an artist based just outside of Bath in the beautiful British countryside, specialising in surface pattern design. Nature and my love for life serve as the foundation of my creativity, which comes alive through watercolour and illustration. I hand-draw my designs using my favourite mediums, transforming them from paper into seamless patterns.
Before pursuing my artistic journey, I spent four years competing internationally in skeleton bobsleigh. During my final years as an athlete, I chose Bath as my base for off-season training and quickly fell in love with the area.
The experiences and travels that accompanied my athletic career opened my eyes to the grandeur of mountains, the enchantment of tall forests, and the grounding power of nature. Whenever I had the chance between competitions, I explored the mountains across the globe, from the majestic Canadian Rockies to the serene landscapes of Europe and the beauty of South Korea. These journeys fueled my inspiration, and I always carried a small watercolour palette, ink, and sketchbook, capturing the essence of my surroundings wherever I went.
My skeleton career met an abrupt and unplanned end during the Olympic qualification season due to a concussion injury sustained during training. Returning home, I sought solace in creativity and discovered a new avenue to breathe life into my illustrations and artwork - surface design.
I share my life with my partner Ray, who, like me, is a retired former athlete. Together, we now embrace a slower pace of life, finding joy in nurturing our peaceful allotment plot. In the summer months, our plot overflows abundantly with produce and delicate flowers.
My latest collection, Forest Touch, speaks to the natural beauty of the Bath area. The gentle pastels are ever-present in the surroundings complemented by the signature hues of Bath's iconic stone. The colour palette is invigorated by the lush greens that cover the picturesque British countryside. As you walk along the skyline, overlooking the city and through the forest, you'll stumble upon the historic site of the Battle of Claverton Down - a place where the only documented battle involving King Arthur is said to have taken place. Nearby, lies the quarry that supplied the stone for Buckingham Palace's facade, reminding us that history is intricately intertwined with nature, a connection that can almost be touched.
Through my surface pattern designs, I invite you to join me on a visual journey that celebrates the splendor of nature. Each pattern tells a unique story, capturing the essence of the world around us and bringing it into our everyday lives.
